this is the sixth episode of this podcast. In this episode I’m gonna talk about
the alphabet and number in Indonesian. But again if you wanna read the

So
Indonesian alphabet. Actually it is 100% percent the same alphabet as English.
But now I will pronounce each of the alphabet because of course the
pronunciation is different. As I’m pronouncing the sound please pay attention
carefully to how I produce the sound.

So how is it? Do you notice any similarities with English alphabet? I think
some of them are F J L M N O Q S X Z. Now why don’t go along with me by
pronouncing the alphabet together?

think it’s not that difficult to pronounce Indonesian alphabet. Maybe the only
difficulty that you will encounter here is to pronounce the R. It is Rrrr, again
Rrrrr. But if you are an Italian or Spanish. You can easily pronounce this
Rrrrr sound.
Okay,
so that is the alphabet in Indonesian. Now we jump in to our next topic today,
the number in Indonesian. Indonesian number pronunciation is very different with
English. So from one to ten in Indonesian, it is
Satu
Dua
Tiga
Empat
Lima
Enam
Tujuh
Delapan
Sembilan
Sepuluh
But the good news is if you have already know one to ten in
Indonesian, it would be very easy for you to pronounce the rest of the number
because they are in a pattern. So with teen like thirteen, fourteen, et cetera
it is belas in Indonesian. Pay attention carefully, I’m gonna pronounce eleven
to nineteen in Indonesian.
Sebelas
Dua belas
Tiga belas
Empat belas
Lima belas
Enam belas
Tujuh belas
Delapan belas
Sembilan belas
Do you
notice that unlike English, you know, eleven and twelve, they are not in a
pattern with the rest thirteen, fourteen, and so on. But in Indonesian they all
are in pattern. May be you are wondering, why eleven in Indonesian is sebelas
and not satu belas. In fact, se here is a contraction of satu.
Now
with ty, you know, twenty, thirty, fourty, in Indonesian it is puluh. To help
understand, now I’m gonna pronounce the rest of the number, from twenty to
thirty and then from thirty to ninety. Remember all the number is in a pattern.
So once you know one to ten in Indonesian. You will certainly know the rest.
Okay, let’s start.

Dua puluh dua
Dua puluh tiga
Dua puluh empat
Dua puluh lima
Dua puluh enam
Dua puluh tujuh
Dua puluh delapan
Dua puluh sembilan
